saying goodbye

We said farewell to our beloved Jessie last night. She was somewhere around 11, don't know for certain, we rescued her in 2001. Oh, the love and devotion she had given us all these years. So many memories to cherish and recall when the 'missing' kicks in. Already no heavy footfalls behind me in the kitchen meaning: it's morning time for chow. No climbing up in my dear husbands lap while we read the newspaper and have our coffee. No paw reaching up to tap my leg, "hey, pay attention" to me. . Thank you, my sweet big kitty for all the joy you brought us. And Father God, you who created all things, wherever she is, I know it is so much more than here. It's been a season of goodbyes for our family the end of this year. Hope springs eternal, life continues, and forever the best parts remain in our hearts.

Oh, what a sad way to end a hard year. I do hope next year is a good one for you with a special blessing, and that the New Year brings something new into your life. I haven't had a cat since we got married, but I had a dearly beloved one from when I was about 4 - she lived till after I was married and had left home, and I can imagine the loss you are feeling with Jessie gone. Andante used to come to bed with me when I was little, and never left me till I was asleep. Even when she had a broken hip after an accident on the road, she wouldn't sleep anywhere but on my bed. And she used to bring me dead rats in the early hours of the morning...

Hi dear Friend - another loss for you and your family - but a gain for dear Jessie to be now perfect and whole again - we lost Parker about 4 years ago and missed her dearly - and have now adopted two kitties who could be her sisters which happened completely randomly!

It is a joy to share you life with a four footed friend - right now your memories will burn bright for Jessie.

May 2010 hold fewer losses for you!

many hugs,

Dearest Susan. I had to read back and now understand your absence at SCS and on your blog. And now the loss of Jessie. I so know and understand the feelings we go through with loss. I lost my dad when I was only 21 and my mom died very close to my birthday at the end of January 2 years ago.Some days I miss her so badly I can hardly breathe but I know in my heart of hearts she is still with us and on to a much better place. And so it will go with you I am sure.You are so gifted in writing just as you are in your lovely art creations. Thank you so much for sharing your loss with us. I will keep you and yours in my thoughts and prayers. And do rely on others for help when you need it. Email me or let me know you want to talk. And how great it is that we have such wonderful memories to hold on to. We have a 12 year old lab and I thank God for every day we have with her. Sending you much love!! Judi

Oh my sweet Susan!!! I had no idea your MIL passed away and now your beloved cat...I'm so sorry to hear this.

I'm not very good dealing losing a loved one (person or animal)....we lost my stepbrother (52)- right before Thanksgiving. He came down with pneumonia and was admitted to the hospital where he died 2 days later!!! Even though we were not that close it made me soooo sad!!! sniff.....

Please know that I'll be thinking of you!!! Big hugs ~S~

Susan, I am so sad for your loss, and I can totally appreciate your loss as I myself lost my Moppett on Saturday night. She was about 15 years old and I miss her terribly. Big {{{HUGS}}}
