Happiness is a...

perfume which you cannot pour on someone without getting some on yourself.   What a great analogy from Emerson, don't you think?  I love having a visual image to trigger a concept.

Happiness is so much more than a temporary occurrence brought about by a person, experience, or object.  It is to me, an essence, all encompassing that doesn't drift away when outside circumstances threaten to steal it away.  Sort of like a beloved perfume.  One that has had decades of wear.  Once again, I am reminded of my grandmother who's favorite perfume was Estee Lauder's 'Youth Dew'.  She had dusting powder, bath soap, and the beautiful crystal bottle which housed the perfume.  To say she slathered it on, would be an understatement.  And now even 15 years later,  I can open a box, cookbook, or linens, smell her essence and be instantly transported to her house, her arms, her happy countenance.

I took my inspiration from the Bright and Bold color challenge on Moxie Fab
.  The quote is an Impression Obsession stamp.  And my perfume
bottles are a cube from B Line Designs.  I stamped them with VersaColor and used UTEE on the
crystal parts.  The metal atomizers are colored with a Copic in gold.  The papers are Basic Grey.

My favorite perfume is Ralph Laren's 'Romance'.   And while I do not slather it on, my hope is that wherever I go, it could be said that I leave behind happiness.  How about you?   I would love to hear your take...

The quote certainly triggered a great card with those little atmosiers. It's amazing how evocative scents and smells are. My teacher in National (junior) school used a very strong perfume. I've never known the name of it, but I got the scent of it somewhere recently and it brought me right back almost forty years.
My all-time favourite perfume is Lanvin's Arpege, but I can't get it in Ireland any more, and when we're in Paris I can never afford it on top of the holiday. Some time I'll have to splash out and indulge. After that I like Oscar de la Renta and Miss Dior.
Your card and musings take me to 2 Corinthians 2:15, and I am quite sure that you carry that sweet aroma with you.

Happiness is getting a chance to view and read a post like this. I love this card and the story that goes with it...awe... it made me smile and think back of my mother. What a lovely post; thank you!!
Stay warm; I hope that the snowstorm already stopped or didn't you have any snow?

This is terrific, Susan! Love the images and layout. What a great quote. Takes me back to when I could smell (lost that sense a long time ago) and how I forget how other people still can and what memories they attach to smell.

Love this Susan! you have the most eclectic set of stamps - with images to go with wonderful sentiments! Your spray bottles are super and that Emerson quote is so perfect!

I wear Red Door and can never smell it on myself - but people say they really like it.

Aw yes, perfume...sends me to places and time of youth. My dad used to wear Old Spice after-shave and as Sabrina said, takes me right back 40 years ago, sitting on the bathroom counter and watching my dad shave. He would squirt some of his shaving cream on my hand or cheek. (smile)

Susan, thank you for becoming a follower on my blog. I just thought of writing when I was making the card for you. Expect it soon my sweet, it's yours.

I really enjoyed myself and took this one quite seriously, though I know you have a marvelous sens of humour too.
Hugs, peggyxo

Susan, I'm so glad you were QFTD on Splitcoaststampers this week. Because of that and because of you becoming a follower of my blog (thank you!), I have found your wonderful blog. And, what a time...I love perfume bottles and have always meant to start a collection. I don't use perfume much at all, but just love the old bottles. You've done a marvelous job on your card.
I can't tell you how much I enjoyed your gallery on Thursday as I went through to find a card to case. I only got half way through, but I intend to finish. I absolutely loved it.
Have a splendid weekend.
